Electric strike BIRA with plate, without memory or brake 12V AC/DC

The Electric strike BIRA with plate, without memory or brake (factory code S12U, Hartte S series) is made for pedestrian gates and the entrance doors of apartment buildings. It connects to any building intercom, so the entrance is released by the intercom signal, with no key.

The housing is white zinc-plated steel and the latch is zinc-aluminium alloy (ZnAl) with a galvanic coating. The strike is 20.5 mm wide, 75 mm high and 28.5 mm deep, and the latch depth can be adjusted by up to 4 mm to take up tolerances in the installation.

It works fail-secure (NC – normally closed): the entrance stays locked while there is no power and is released for as long as the signal lasts. Mechanical strength is 3500 N (350 kg) and the unit is tested over 200,000 opening cycles.

It is built into the frame of DIN left and DIN right doors. The box holds the 25 × 250 mm strike plate and the screws for fixing the strike to it. The manufacturer gives no separate cut-out size: the cut-out in the frame has to take the symmetrical 75 × 20.5 × 28.5 mm housing, and the gap between door and frame at the latch should be 3–5 mm. It is connected with two wires to the door-release output of the intercom or controller (12 V AC/DC, polarity does not matter), and it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
