Electric strike BIRA with plate, with memory and brake 12V AC/DC

The Electric strike BIRA with plate, with memory and brake (factory code S12UPW, Hartte S series) is made for pedestrian gates and the entrance doors of apartment buildings. It connects to any building intercom, so the entrance is released by the intercom signal, with no key.

The strike is 20.5 mm wide, 75 mm high and 28.5 mm deep, and the latch depth can be adjusted by up to 4 mm to take up tolerances in the installation. The 25 × 250 mm strike plate comes in the same box. The housing is white zinc-plated steel and the latch is zinc-aluminium alloy (ZnAl) with a galvanic coating.

This model has two functions that make daily use easier: an internal memory, which keeps the entrance unlocked after a short signal until it is closed again, and a brake, which keeps it permanently unlocked when the small lever is moved. The basic behaviour is fail-secure (NC), so the entrance stays locked when there is no power.

It is built into the frame of DIN left and DIN right doors. Mechanical strength is 3500 N (350 kg) and the unit is tested over 200,000 opening cycles. The screws for fixing it to the strike plate are included. The manufacturer gives no separate cut-out size: the cut-out in the frame has to take the symmetrical 75 × 20.5 × 28.5 mm housing, and the gap between door and frame at the latch should be 3–5 mm. It is connected with two wires to the door-release output of the intercom or controller (12 V AC/DC, polarity does not matter), and it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
